Winning in 2024

Happy New Year!

We spent a quiet day at the doll shop today, working on VDC Boxes. I share a lot of my life with you, and I thought you would love to see this photo of my Dad working at the doll shop today, helping stuff subscription boxes.

His life has always been about working hard, and since Mom passed away and he sold most of his rental properties in the last two years, he's been finding new ways to fill his time. He's always been a big businessman, dedicated to long days of work, so it was heartwarming when he expressed his desire to help with the shop, saying, “Work is work.” He's taken on multiple shifts over the past week here at the doll shop.

When I asked if I could snap his photo, he joked, “Text it to Heaven and show Mom.” He laughed and didn’t see, but I had to turn away, my eyes brimming with tears. Can you imagine if we could text Heaven? It made me so grateful in the moment—to witness such beauty amidst all the change and uncertainty we all face.

When Dad was ready to leave, he mentioned how packing boxes had been good for his hands, helping ease his arthritis—a double win for him.

Winning can look like so many different things.

I don't know what your aspirations are for 2024. Maybe they're about working on exercises for arthritis, finding your way after a loss or big change, or maybe they’re about embarking on the journey of a small business— know that I'm rooting for you and praying for your success.

And if you had to put off something you wanted to do last year, know that you're not alone. You're certainly not a failure.

Perhaps now, your aim is just to get through each day. If so, let 'good enough' be your triumph. Believe me, it's significant.

Despite all the changes we've faced, one thing remains constant: you are deeply and fiercely loved.

Thank you for being with us for every step, every box, every video, and every heartfelt exchange. As we welcome 2024, we do so with love and open arms.

Love,

Rachel
