Step into a Vintage Dream with September's Club Grace Pattern: The Answer Dress! 🎥👗

This month, Tamara is taking you on a nostalgic journey back to the 1950s with our Club Grace subscription pattern, aptly named 'The Answer Dress.' Inspired by a design that was originally marketed by Simplicity Patterns as the 'Day to Date' dress, this fabulous pattern is all about versatility and timeless charm.

Our choice of fabric for the sample couldn't be more perfect—it's quintessentially Shirley Temple! From the red and white colors to the polka dots, this fabric captures the essence of the era and the timeless appeal of one of America's most beloved child stars.

Why is it called 'The Answer Dress,' you ask? Well, back in the day, this dress was the answer to a multitude of social occasions. Whether you were heading to a daytime luncheon or an evening date, this pattern had you covered! It's a testament to the versatility and enduring style of the 1950s, which continue to inspire fashionistas today.

If you're already part of our wonderful Club Grace community, get ready to dive into this pattern and share your creations with us! Not a member yet? No worries! You can join the subscription here and be a part of our fabulous sewing circle! 🪡✂️ And if you're just interested in this particular pattern, you can buy it separately here.

"Day to date" designs have been a cornerstone in fashion for decades. Here are some iconic styles that epitomized this trend:

  2. The Little Black Dress - Made famous by Audrey Hepburn in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's,' this classic piece is the ultimate "day to date" dress.

  3. Trench Dress - A spin-off of the classic trench coat, the trench dress could be both professional and romantic with the right accessories.

  4. Pencil Skirt Suits - Popular in the '50s and '60s, these could go from a business meeting straight to a cocktail party with just a change of blouse or accessories.

  5. Jumpsuits - A '70s and '80s staple, jumpsuits have made a comeback and are incredibly versatile for various occasions.

  6. Shirt Dresses - With a quick switch from flats to heels and adding some jewelry, the shirt dress is another iconic piece that fits the "day to date" category.
